Summer in Rossland: Your Insider Guide to Adventure & Après

Whether you’re staying at Tinwood Cabins for a weekend escape or a week-long adventure, summer in Rossland is packed with biking, hiking, local flavor, and laid-back vibes. Here’s our go-to guide for making the most of it.

1. Ride the Trails

Rossland is a mountain biking haven, from techy descents to flowy forest singletrack and big alpine rides.

The highlight? The renowned IMBA Seven Summits Trail. This epic point-to-point ride is a bucket-list classic for experienced riders, offering dramatic views, challenging climbs, and unforgettable descents.

With over 200kms of pedal-access singletrack, there’s something for every rider. Cruise greens like Drifter and Moe’s, explore intermediate tech with Columbia Valley views on Milky Way and Green Door, or push your skills on expert classics like Snake, Whiskey, SMD.

Need a lift? Hop on the Bike Shuttles with Kootenay Mountain Biking (KMB). These locally-run shuttles get you to the top of the best trails like Seven Summits and Cedar Trail—so you can save your energy for the ride back to home base.

Red Mountain Bike Park is also a summer must for gravity lovers, with chairlift access, berms and jumps.

2. Post-Ride Hangouts

After your ride, cool off at the Rossland Beer Co., where mountain views and crisp craft beer are served daily. Craving live music and good food? B&T’s Bistro is your go-to for chill evenings with great tunes and delicious Nachos, Burgers and Salads and more.

3. Scenic Hikes & Huckleberries

If your legs need a break from pedaling, lace up your hiking shoes and hit the trail instead. A scenic 2-hour hike up Red Mountain rewards you with stunning 360° views of the Rossland Range and the mighty Columbia Valley and River.

Looking for something shorter? A quick 1-hour round trip to KC Ridge offers a more mellow outing, with lovely lower-elevation views of the same iconic landscapes.

Bonus tip: Late July to early August is prime huckleberry season in these parts. Bring a small container—and keep your eyes peeled along the forested paths for these juicy purple gems!

4. Chill Like a Local

Looking to soak up some small-town charm between adventures? Rossland’s got you covered. From artisan coffee to community vibes, there are plenty of ways to experience the local rhythm.

The Rossland Mountain Market is a great place to start. Happening every Thursday from May to October, this downtown pop-up brings Queen Street to life with live music, fresh local produce, handmade goods, and smiling faces. It’s a weekly gathering that celebrates everything that makes Rossland special.

While you’re downtown, grab a fresh pastry or coffee from Hooper’s Bakery or The Grind—both are go-to spots for pre-adventure fuel or winding down after a ride.
